Your Wish Is My Command Master

« on: August 05, 2008, 07:47:54 PM »

It is not only for the love of the resort and seeing friends we have made over the years that I return. The weather, a fantastic beach and good food play their part. The chance to meet fellow members to whom you have given help, to put a face to a login name is a big bonus.  Grin

I may be on holiday, but Agios Gordios is still a place that I feel at home and comfortable in. Explore the island by day and return, enjoy a meal at a beachside taverna and watch the sun go down. Afterwards wander around the paths behind some of the accomodations and enjoy the sounds and smells of the evening. The smell of Jasmin wafting on the evening breeze, strains of Greek music, a moon high in the sky, walking arm in arm with the one you love, what more could you want.  Kiss  Kiss  Kiss

I am returning to my AG home at the start of September, the countdown is on. With me will be a daughter and her son, it will be their first visit. Like so many first time visitors, it is unlikely to be their last. One of the first sounds that they will here is that of the Town Crier, George at Gee Bees giving a greeting to all and sundry. Angela will try in vain to keep George in check, at times she wishes she had a volume control. I am pleased to say that they are both good friends of mine and a source of good information to all visitors.

If you keep a watch on this forum, you can learn a lot from other members what is happening in the area that you might otherwise miss. The forum is resort dedicated so you do not have to trawl through posts covering the whole island to find local information. My one and only sorrow is that my daughter and son will not catch that great first glimpse of Agios Gordios bay from the main road. It will be around midnight when we arrive but they should see all the lights and as it is a full moon, the rock in the bay should be visible.

I do not wish to give you even more reasons as to why I return. Once you have visited Agios Gordios you are liable to have a list of reasons as long as mine of reasons to return.  Grin  Cool

Wish that I was there now.

Yammas,  Colin.

I quote: 'The smell of Jasmin wafting on the evening breeze, strains of Greek music, a moon high in the sky, walking arm in arm with the one you love, what more could you want'.

I'd not tell the wife that if I were you, Colin!

Hi Colin
A "Fountain of Knowledge" and a Poet....! I think that your reasons just about sum up what is so special about Agios. We only discovered Agios last year....needle ss to say we are returning next month.

Bernard,

You deserve to get your knuckles rapped, the thought of being in AG without the wife would be like only having half a holiday.

David and Lesley,

I do believe that you are staying in Stevens, I will try to visit Steven and Vlasis at around mid-day on the 1st September. If they see me coming, they will give you warning so you have a chance to hide.  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh

Yammas,  Colin.

I have only been to Corfu a few times but each time i have stayed within the resort all the time. I have found everyone friendly and find it suitable for me as everyone makes a fuss of me and my son. Feels like my second home when i'm there.

We always went somwhere different for our summer holidays (albeit always in Greece somewhere!) but next Tuesday we will be returning to Corfu and Agios-gordios for the third year running!

I can't remember what drew us to the resort initially but, as well as all the things mentioned in the previous posts, there are practical things that also make it attractive to me. For one thing, the transfer time from the airport is only about 30 minutes (and doesn't involve any ferries!) whereas all the other places that we've been to have been 1 hour minimum on a bus and sometimes involved a ferry. The location of our accomodation has always been very handy for the beach, shops, tavernas & bars. We also met a very nice family 2 years ago and they were there at the same time as us last year AND will be there again this year (Hi, Dave, Tina et al if you're reading this).
The resort is only relatively small but has most things that you'll need.

I'm really looking forward to it and by this time in 5 days time I'll be there !! Grin

I have been visiting Aghios for 11 years now and look forward to it each time, meeting up with friends we have met.   When the plane lands in corfu it feels like coming home, can wait until august.
